"I really enjoy the smooth shock free ride.
I like coming home after a nice long ride and not feel fatigued. This suspension
wheel gives you an awesome ride and has a
cool look. The bike is smooth even on downhills
over 50 mph. This wheel will completely spoil you."

very spoiled by your wheel.
I did my personal best Montauk

Subject: good product - pantour hub/wheel-
Tri Folks,
The folks at Pantour have a great little shock
absorbing hub for your front wheel.
While riding on it today, the ride of the 650
Cannondale CAAD4 aluminum
tri bike (harsh) was significantly smoother.
The rough intersections on the way to work didn't
send vibrations through
these old bones and up and down Portrero Road
was almost pleasant with
no noted increase in climbing effort. While a
carbon fork may take some of the
edge off, their little hub makes the ride very
nice
Saturday, I rode my regular 700C
road bike
and HATED it!

I purposely sought out the "murder"
zones paved with "hand" cut stone paving
stones. These usually rattle the proverbial s*!# out of me.
Well, I have to tell you, there is a problem with the hub. Gasp,
gasp, what could it be. Well, the problem
is that now the rear end of my Tailwind still jars the s*!# out of me while
the front just glides along! The front
used to be the worse. Not any more. It's quite remarkable the
difference.

Took it out for a 24 mile ride today (temperature
around 40 degrees). Worked great. I can really tell the difference
with the rear hub, especially
over train tracks. Here are some pictures of my bike with both hubs.

... about my experience with the Pantour
rear suspension hub. So far, it's limited. I installed one on a Dakota
frame and rode it 25 miles
into Washington last weekend. Although the hub
has only 3/8ths inch travel, it definitely works well. The travel is so
slight that you can
adjust the rear brakes normally. With
Pantours on both ends of my bike, I felt like I was riding on a cloud.
Now, it's not soft and mushy like so many suspensions.
Rather, it takes the edge off the bumps, off the high-frequency stuff on
the road.
My bikes are very comfortable without suspension,
and they are better with it. There is no
downside to the ride, no pogoing that I could detect. The rear hub is a
definite improvement. I'm never going to ride without one. |
